A 26-year-old woman fainted during a race held as part of the home guard recruitment drive in Bodh Gaya, Bihar. While she was being taken to the hospital in an ambulance, she was allegedly gang-raped by the ambulance driver and a technician. Police arrested both suspects Vinay Kumar from Utren village in Gaya, who was driving the ambulance, and Ajit Kumar from Chandanpur village in Nalanda.

The ambulance had been stationed at the recruitment venue for emergencies, but the victim’s family raised concerns that there was no female medical staff on board, despite the event being exclusively for women candidates.

The incident came to light after a case was registered at the Bodh Gaya police station under Section 70(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The woman’s statement was recorded, and she underwent a medical examination at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anand Kumar confirmed that a special investigation team, led by City SP Ramanand Kumar Kaushal, has been formed to look into the case. The accused were identified through CCTV footage and the victim’s account and were arrested within hours. SSP Kumar assured that the investigation would be completed swiftly, and a charge sheet will be filed for a speedy trial to ensure justice.
