Demonstrators Oppose Court’s Bail Order

A large crowd gathered outside the Delhi High Court on Friday. Protesters raised slogans and demanded that the court cancel the bail granted to expelled BJP leader Kuldeep Singh Sengar. The court suspended his life sentence earlier this week; consequently, public anger grew rapidly. As a result, the protest intensified near the court premises.

Survivor and Family Voice Deep Concerns

The Unnao rape survivor said she felt “extremely unsafe” after hearing about the bail. She also expressed disappointment with the order. Meanwhile, her mother strongly opposed the decision and announced that the family would move the Supreme Court. Additionally, security personnel urged protesters to disperse and warned them of possible legal action.

Activists Raise Questions About the Decision

Women’s rights activist Yogita Bhayana joined the protest and said women across India felt hurt by the suspension of a convicted rapist’s sentence. Furthermore, several protesters questioned why the court granted bail despite Sengar’s 2019 conviction for raping a minor. They argued that such decisions weaken trust in the justice system and, moreover, threaten women’s safety.

Family Demands Stronger Protection

The survivor recalled earlier threats and mentioned the 2019 accident in which her relatives and lawyer died. Because of these past incidents, she said Sengar’s influence still frightens her. She currently receives CRPF protection; however, her mother stated that earlier security for her children was withdrawn. Therefore, the family wants the judiciary to review the bail order and ensure stronger protection.er women across the country.
