Telugu actor and comedian Venkat Raj, known by fans as Fish Venkat, sadly passed away on July 18 in Hyderabad due to kidney-related complications. He was 53 and had been receiving dialysis treatment in the ICU. His family had been trying to raise around ₹50 lakh for a kidney transplant, but unfortunately, he passed away before the funds could be arranged.
Venkat was a familiar face in Telugu cinema, having acted in films like Adhurs, Gabbar Singh, Shivam, and Khaidi No. 150. His last role was in the 2024 movie Coffee with a Killer. After the news of his passing broke, actor Sonu Sood stepped in to help the grieving family. He sent ₹1.5 lakh as financial support and also called Venkat’s wife and other relatives to offer his condolences and promised to be there for them if they needed anything.
Sonu reportedly thought Venkat was still under treatment and was shocked to hear of his death. Venkat’s wife said the family was comforted by Sonu’s gesture, especially since Venkat had always admired him. While there were rumors that actor Prabhas donated ₹50 lakh, the family clarified they never received any money and that the call they got was from an impersonator. Other stars like Pawan Kalyan and Vishwak Sen also reportedly offered help, though the aid came late. Still, Sonu Sood’s support brought some comfort to the family during this tough time.
