After TCS announced it would cut around 2% of its global workforce, affecting over 12,000 employees, Soham Parekh shared his thoughts on the situation. The move surprised many in the Indian IT industry, with some criticizing it, while others saw it as inevitable given the rise of AI. Parekh, who had previously made headlines for being accused of working at multiple startups simultaneously an allegation he admitted to but said he did to support himself offered advice to tech workers. He suggested that they should work harder to stay ahead in the changing industry.

Parekh responded to reports claiming TCS would freeze hiring for experienced staff and halt salary increases globally. He urged fellow tech employees not to wait for things to happen but to put in extra effort to outwork the system. Despite the controversy surrounding him, with some calling him a scammer and others praising his skills, Parekh maintained that he worked at multiple startups due to financial difficulties and was a dedicated developer.

TCS clarified that the layoffs primarily target middle and senior management, and re-employment for these roles isn’t expected to be possible. The company said it has been working on reskilling and redeploying staff but, unfortunately, some employees will have to be let go because their roles can’t be adapted to meet future needs.
