Writer Divy Nidhi Sharma, who has worked with Aamir Khan on Sitaare Zameen Par and Laapataa Ladies, has addressed the common perception that Aamir interferes in the creative process. In a recent chat with India Today, Divy clarified that although Aamir stays deeply involved in his projects, there’s no interference at all.

“I had heard such things too,” Divy admitted, “but after working closely with him on Laapataa Ladies and now Sitaare Zameen Par, I can confidently say there was zero interference. I was present during the shoot, and even from director RS Prasanna’s side, it was one of the smoothest experiences we’ve had.”
He went on to say that Aamir is someone who genuinely respects the written word. “He likes to be part of discussions and is open to debate. Yes, it takes him time to build trust, but once that’s there, the journey becomes very easy. Even if he had a different opinion, he would never impose it. He would ask the writer before making even a small change like a comma.”
Sitaare Zameen Par, which released in theatres on June 20, has so far earned ₹164 crore in India. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film stars Aamir as a basketball coach mentoring ten differently-abled individuals. It also features Genelia D’Souza along with a cast of newcomers. The movie is seen as a spiritual sequel to the beloved Taare Zameen Par (2007).
