Actor Shilpa Shirodkar recently recalled a shocking incident from her early days in the film industry when a newspaper falsely reported that she had been shot dead. At the time, she was shooting for the film Raghuveer in Kullu Manali with Suniel Shetty. Since mobile phones weren’t common back then, her father desperately tried to reach her at the hotel after reading the disturbing headline. Locals watching the shoot were confused, unsure if it was really Shilpa, since the news of her “death” had already spread.

When Shilpa returned to her hotel room, she found nearly 25 missed calls from her panicked father. She later learned that the news was part of a promotional strategy for the film. “There was no PR or media planning back then. I was the last to know about it,” she said. While she admitted the move went too far, she wasn’t angry because the film did well at the box office.
Released in 1995, Raghuveer starred Shilpa alongside Suniel Shetty and was a moderate hit. Shilpa made her debut in 1989 with Bhrashtachar and went on to feature in several popular films in the ’90s. After taking a break from films, she returned to the screen through television and recently appeared in Bigg Boss 18 in 2024.
