In Madhya Pradesh’s Khurai, a tragic incident unfolded when four members of the Lodhi family died by suicide after consuming Sulphas tablets on the night of July 25–26. Manohar Lodhi, aged 45, his 70-year-old mother, and his two teenage children all lost their lives. Following investigations, the police arrested Manohar’s wife, Draupadi, and her lover for abetment of suicide, revealing troubling details behind the case.

According to reports, Draupadi was involved in an affair with Manohar’s childhood friend, Surendra. The family was aware of the relationship and urged them to end it, but both refused, claiming they could not live without each other. The situation worsened when Draupadi threatened to file false dowry harassment cases against the family if they continued to oppose the affair. Their daughter reportedly witnessed intimate moments between Draupadi and Surendra, adding to the family’s distress.
On the night of the tragedy, overwhelmed by mental and societal pressure, Manohar, his mother Phulrani, and his son Ankit consumed the poisonous tablets. While Phulrani and Ankit died immediately, their daughter Shivani passed away later in the hospital. Manohar died on the way to the district hospital. Neighbors and relatives who heard Manohar vomiting alerted authorities, but help arrived too late. The hospital confirmed the four had ingested Sulphas tablets, marking a heartbreaking end to the family’s ordeal.
