Prime Minister Narendra Modi has responded to the sudden resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, expressing his good wishes and appreciation for Dhankhar’s service to the nation. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote, “Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar Ji has got many opportunities to serve our country in various capacities, including as the Vice President of India. Wishing him good health.”

Dhankhar, 74, resigned from his position on Sunday, citing health concerns. In his resignation letter to President Droupadi Murmu, he stated, “To prioritise health care and abide by medical advice, I hereby resign as Vice President of India, effective immediately, in accordance with Article 67(a) of the Constitution.”
His resignation came unexpectedly, especially as it was the opening day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament. Dhankhar’s term had started in August 2022 and was supposed to continue until August 2027. Along with being Vice President, he also served as Chairman of the Rajya Sabha. His sudden departure has sparked speculation in political and media circles, though no specific details about his medical condition were shared in his letter.
