A helicopter operated by Pawan Hans crashed into the sea shortly before landing near Mayabunder in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Tuesday morning. The aircraft departed from Port Blair with two crew members and five passengers. Around 9:30 am, the pilot initiated an emergency sea landing about 300 metres short of the runway during the final approach.

The crew responded immediately when the helicopter encountered difficulty during descent. They executed a controlled ditching near the Mayabunder coast and guided passengers through emergency procedures. The company spokesperson confirmed that rescue teams safely evacuated all seven people and reported no injuries. The crew maintained communication with ground authorities throughout the emergency.
