Lokesh Kanagaraj’s much-anticipated film Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, features Nagarjuna and Aamir Khan in significant roles. In a recent interview with Mid-Day, Nagarjuna shared intriguing spoilers about their characters, revealing details that had not been previously disclosed. While Aamir Khan portrays Dahaa, a character introduced through a striking monochrome image of him smoking a pipe, Nagarjuna clarified that he and Aamir do not share any scenes, as their storylines unfold in separate chapters. He praised Aamir’s performance, calling it brilliant and hinting that audiences will be surprised to see a new side of the actor.
Nagarjuna also revealed that he plays the film’s main antagonist, Simon, who goes head-to-head with Rajinikanth’s character. Describing the role as a refreshing change, Nagarjuna expressed excitement about the numerous confrontations he has with Rajinikanth on screen. However, he refrained from divulging specific plot details, though promotional materials suggest the storyline may center around gold smuggling. The actor’s portrayal promises to add a compelling dynamic to the film’s narrative.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Kalanithi Maran’s Sun Pictures, Coolie is scheduled for theatrical release on August 14. It will compete at the box office with Ayan Mukerji’s War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR. Alongside the leads, the film’s ensemble cast includes Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John, Junior MGR, Monisha Blessy, and Kaali Venkat. While the plot remains largely under wraps, Coolie is not expected to be connected to Lokesh’s Cinematic Universe, which includes Kaithi, Vikram, Leo, and the upcoming Benz.
