Kerala High Court had dismissed her anticipatory bail plea. Muneer is the first accused in the case registered in 2024 and is reported to have made repeated derogatory posts about Menon online. Meanwhile, she has also filed a complaint against actor and MLA M Mukesh, a leader of the CPI(M) representing the Kollam Assembly constituency.

This arrest marks a significant development in a controversy that has unsettled the Malayalam film industry in recent months. Muneer had publicly accused several prominent industry figures of sexual misconduct and abuse during their professional collaborations. In August of the previous year, she named actors Mukesh, Jayasurya, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Idavela Babu, alleging both verbal and physical harassment, along with Advocate Chandrasekharan, production controller Noble, and an individual named Vichu.

In her statements to ANI, Muneer detailed the incidents, claiming that these abuses compelled her to leave the Malayalam film industry and relocate to Chennai. She described instances such as Jayasurya forcibly hugging and kissing her, Idavela Babu expressing interest in a sexual relationship, and Maniyanpilla Raju making inappropriate and unsettling suggestions during a film shoot. These incidents reportedly date back to 2013. The allegations emerged amid growing unrest within the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), following unrelated controversies that led to the resignations of director Ranjith and actor Siddique from their organizational roles.
