Strategic Autonomy and Growing Cooperation

French President Emmanuel Macron joined Indian podcaster Raj Shamani for a detailed conversation on India-France relations, technology partnerships and global politics. During the podcast, Macron stressed that both nations are deepening cooperation across defence, climate action and innovation. When asked whether India and France are setting an example, he responded with confidence. “When we team up, we deliver,” Macron said, highlighting tangible results from bilateral initiatives. He noted that trust and long-term vision continue to drive the partnership forward.

Macron underlined that India and France share a strong commitment to strategic autonomy. He said both countries prefer balanced global relationships instead of depending on any single power. France maintains relations with the United States and China, while India follows its own independent path. According to Macron, this shared belief in a multipolar world strengthens their diplomatic alignment. He added that cooperation between New Delhi and Paris reflects mutual respect and common global goals.

Education, Innovation and High-Level Talks

The French president also addressed Indian students seeking global opportunities. He encouraged them to consider France for higher education, stressing the quality of its universities and research institutions. Many programs are available in English, which makes access easier. Macron described France as home to major global companies and one of Europe’s most dynamic startup ecosystems. He said this combination creates strong career and innovation prospects for young talent.

Macron arrived in Mumbai ahead of key discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The leaders are expected to focus on defence cooperation, artificial intelligence and climate partnerships. Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed him at the airport. His visit signals deeper strategic coordination between India and France as both nations work toward a resilient and future-ready alliance.
