KRK Arrested After Bullets Strike Andheri Housing Society

Mumbai Police arrested actor and self-styled film critic Kamaal R Khan (KRK) over a firing incident in Andheri West. Authorities said Khan fired rounds from his licensed firearm, and the bullets struck a residential building. Panic spread among residents soon after the incident. Officials confirmed that the firing occurred on January 18 at Nalanda Society. The building houses writer-director Neeraj Kumar Mishra and model Prateek Baid. Residents reported hearing loud noises before discovering bullet marks on the premises.

Forensic Clues Lead Police to KRK’s Bungalow

Investigators recovered two bullets from the building during a search. Officers found one bullet on the second floor and another on the fourth floor. Despite scanning nearby CCTV cameras, police found no usable footage. A forensic team later carried out a ballistic examination. The analysis traced the bullets’ trajectory to a nearby bungalow owned by Kamaal R Khan. Based on these findings, officers called Khan in for questioning.

Actor Admits to Firing Shots During Weapon Cleaning

During interrogation, Kamaal R Khan admitted that he fired two rounds, police officials said. According to him, the firing happened while he was cleaning his firearm. He claimed he discharged the weapon to check its condition. Khan also said he aimed toward a mangrove patch near his home. He believed the area had no residents. He further claimed that strong winds may have redirected the bullets toward the housing society.

Case Filed Under BNS and Arms Act

Mumbai Police have registered a case against Khan under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Investigators are now examining whether negligence or intent caused the incident. Khan remains in custody as police continue the probe. The firing did not injure anyone. Even so, officials warned that discharging a firearm in a residential area poses a serious public safety threat.
