JeM Commander, 2 Terrorists Killed in Kishtwar Encounter

Indian security forces killed three Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists, including a key commander, in Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday. The Indian Army’s White Knight Corps confirmed that the operation, Operation Trashi-I, involved a joint effort by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Intelligence from multiple agencies guided the forces to the terrorists’ location, allowing them to take decisive action.

Encounter Erupts in Chatroo Area

The clash began at approximately 10:30 am in Chatroo, when security forces approached a mud house where the terrorists were hiding. As troops advanced, the terrorists opened fire, prompting a fierce exchange. The forces quickly neutralized all three militants. Authorities identified one of the slain terrorists as Saifullah and recovered two AK-47 rifles along with other ammunition. The Chatroo forest belt has previously seen intense militant activity, including six gunfights last month that claimed the life of a soldier and a terrorist. This encounter reinforces the ongoing vigilance of security forces in high-risk areas.

Pakistani Terrorist Neutralized in Kathua

Last month, forces killed a Pakistani JeM terrorist in Kathua district during a targeted operation in Billawar. Acting on actionable intelligence, a small JKP team, in coordination with the Army and CRPF, located the terrorist, identified as Usman, and eliminated him. These successful operations reflect the effectiveness of joint counter-terrorism efforts and the precision of intelligence-led strikes. Moreover, authorities continue to conduct regular combing operations and maintain high alert in sensitive areas to prevent further threats.

Strategic Impact and Enhanced Security

The Kishtwar operation highlights the growing efficiency of India’s security forces in neutralizing high-risk militants. By coordinating closely, the Army, CRPF, and local police disrupted a key JeM cell and reduced cross-border threats. Security officials stressed that such actions boost public safety and prevent potential attacks. Furthermore, they will continue proactive intelligence gathering and rapid response measures in vulnerable regions to maintain stability. Consequently, the operation marks a significant step in safeguarding Jammu and Kashmir from terrorist activities.
