External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi in New Delhi, marking their first high-level talks since 2021.
Jaishankar welcomed Muttaqi’s visit, saying India values direct dialogue and stands as a supportive neighbour with deep interest in Afghanistan’s growth and peace.

He announced India will reopen its embassy in Kabul, a major diplomatic move to strengthen ties and support Afghanistan’s stability and development.
Muttaqi, under UN sanctions, reached New Delhi with special permission after attending a global conference on Afghanistan in Russia.
