Geneva Talks Resume
Iran and the US will hold the next round of nuclear talks on Thursday, February 26, in Geneva. Oman’s foreign minister, Badr Al Busaidi, confirmed the date. Oman previously mediated talks between the two nations. India issued a fresh advisory urging its citizens in Iran to leave immediately using all available transport, including commercial flights. Tensions remain high after recent diplomatic escalations.
US Military Presence
The US now has 13 warships in the Middle East, including the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, nine destroyers, and three frigates, AFP reported. President Donald Trump gave Iran a 10-15 day ultimatum to reach a nuclear deal, warning failure would be “unfortunate” for the country. Analysts say the military presence aims to pressure Tehran ahead of the Geneva talks.

Protests in Iran
Iran faces internal unrest as student-led demonstrations continue for the second day in Tehran and Mashhad universities. Protesters criticize economic hardship and government crackdowns. HRANA reports suggest more than 7,000 people died during recent protests, while Iran claims over 3,000 deaths. These demonstrations add pressure on Tehran during sensitive nuclear negotiations.
Iran Signals Retaliation
Iranian officials remain firm despite diplomatic efforts. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned Iran would respond if the US attacked. President Masoud Pezeshkian added that Iran will not bow to global pressure. Analysts say Iran must balance nuclear talks with domestic unrest. As India urges citizens to evacuate, the world watches the Geneva talks closely.
