A romantic honeymoon in Meghalaya turned into a gruesome tragedy for 30-year-old Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, whose decomposed body was discovered on 2 June in a gorge near the scenic Weisawdong Falls in East Khasi Hills. He had been missing since 23 May, just days after arriving in Meghalaya with his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi for what was supposed to be a peaceful getaway. The shocking Meghalaya honeymoon murder case has captured nationwide attention due to its chilling details.

Police have taken five people into custody in connection with the brutal Raja Raghuvanshi murder. The suspects include his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi (25), her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha (21), and three other accused—Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), Anand Kurmi (23), and Akash Rajput (19)—who are believed to have executed the killing. Investigators say the crime was carefully planned, with Raja allegedly lured to the remote location before being attacked.
According to ACP Poonam Chand Yadav, all four male accused have confessed to their involvement in the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case. “The first blow was delivered by Vishal, also known as Vicky Thakur,” said Yadav in a statement to India Today TV. Shockingly, Sonam was present during the attack and reportedly watched as her husband was killed before the accused threw his body into a deep gorge.
