In a significant development for travelers in North Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Indian Railways is set to launch the Vande Bharat Express between Patliputra Junction (Patna) and Gorakhpur. The high-speed train is expected to begin operations from June 20, with preparations already complete. A request has been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) for approval, and it is widely anticipated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the train on this much-awaited route.

The Vande Bharat Express will offer faster and more comfortable travel for passengers from Patna, Muzaffarpur, Narkatiaganj, and Bettiah. According to the proposed schedule, the train will depart from Gorakhpur at 6 AM, travel through key stations including Muzaffarpur and Bettiah, and reach Patna. On the return journey, it will arrive back in Gorakhpur by 9 PM the same day, significantly cutting down travel time and enhancing overall passenger experience.
The train is currently being prepared at the Gorakhpur yard, with trial runs scheduled for this week. Originally designated for the Prayagraj route, the rake has now been reassigned to the Patliputra-Gorakhpur corridor under East Central Railway. During a recent visit to Gorakhpur and Bettiah, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed the launch of this service. The Patna Division is fully geared up for the inauguration, and once PMO approval is received, the train will officially begin its journey, ushering in a new era of modern rail travel for the region.
