Hours after Putin’s talks hit a snag, Trump says again he prevented a nuclear war between India and Pakistan.

US President Donald Trump once again claimed that he played a key role in preventing a war between India and Pakistan, saying his efforts were driven by a desire to save lives and stop conflicts from escalating. Speaking on Fox News, Trump defended his involvement in global disputes, including those far from the US, such as the recent ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia. He insisted that without his pressure, wars would have broken out or worsened, highlighting his administration’s push for peace as part of his foreign policy achievements.

Trump specifically pointed to the India-Pakistan situation, saying that tensions had escalated to the point of planes being shot down and a nuclear conflict was close. However, India has repeatedly denied Trump’s claims, with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar clarifying that the ceasefire was reached through direct talks between military officials and that there was no US involvement or trade-related discussions tied to the agreement. Despite this, Trump continues to assert that his role was crucial in calming the situation.

These statements came shortly after a summit between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin failed to yield any progress on the war in Ukraine. Trump also claimed he pressured Putin to end the conflict within a set deadline. Throughout recent months, Trump has frequently highlighted ceasefires and diplomatic efforts, portraying them as successes of his administration’s foreign policy, even as some details have been disputed by the countries involved.
