Galgotias University released a fresh clarification on Wednesday over the robodog controversy at the India AI Impact Summit 2026. The university apologised for the “confusion” created during the event and accepted full responsibility for the misinformation. Officials said poor coordination and lack of verification led to the incident. As tensions rose, summit organisers asked the institution to vacate its exhibition space in New Delhi. The organisers took this step to protect the credibility of the national-level technology forum and prevent further controversy.

University Cites ‘On-Camera Enthusiasm’ as Cause

In its third official statement, Galgotias blamed Professor Neha Singh for the inaccurate presentation. The university said she lacked proper technical information and spoke without authorisation. Officials claimed her enthusiasm to interact with the media led to incorrect statements. Moreover, the management stressed that she did not verify the product’s origin before speaking. “She was ill-informed and gave factually incorrect details,” the statement said. Therefore, the university decided to withdraw from the expo in line with the organisers’ expectations.

Viral Clip Sparks Widespread Criticism

The controversy started after a video from the summit circulated widely on social media. In the clip, Neha Singh introduced the robotic dog “Orion” and described it as a product of the university’s Centre of Excellence. She also highlighted its surveillance and monitoring features. Soon after, viewers compared the machine with products from Unitree Robotics. Many users claimed the robot matched Unitree’s models. As these posts gained traction, criticism grew rapidly. Consequently, the university issued multiple clarifications to control the damage.

Neha Singh Accepts Responsibility for Miscommunication

Amid growing pressure, Neha Singh publicly accepted responsibility for her remarks. She admitted that she failed to communicate clearly during the interaction. “I spoke too quickly and with too much energy,” she said, adding that this affected the accuracy of her statements. Meanwhile, visuals from the summit showed officials cutting power to the Galgotias stall, confirming reports of its removal. Analysts say the episode highlights the need for strict communication protocols at major technology events. Ultimately, the incident has pushed institutions to focus more on verification, accountability, and transparency in India’s expanding AI ecosystem.
