The Patna police have registered an FIR against Jan Suraaj leader Prashant Kishor and around 300 party workers following a protest near the Bihar Assembly that turned violent on Wednesday. The demonstration, which was held without official permission, was aimed at raising issues such as unemployment, land rights, and alleged corruption in the land survey process. Kishor had earlier announced plans to gherao the Assembly.

As the protestors, including party spokesperson Vivek and state president Manoj Bharti, marched toward the Assembly, police intervened at Chitkohra roundabout to stop them. A clash broke out when protestors attempted to force their way through the barricades. Despite repeated warnings, the crowd did not disperse, prompting police to resort to lathi-charge. Several protestors were reportedly injured.

The FIR was lodged at Sachivalaya police station under sections 190, 191(2), 132, and 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police accused the protestors of unlawful assembly, inciting public unrest, and violating prohibitory orders. City SP (Central) Diksha confirmed the FIR was based on a statement by the deputed magistrate. Authorities are now reviewing CCTV and video footage to identify individuals responsible for the violence and further legal action.
