On the occasion of Ranveer Singh’s birthday, the much-anticipated teaser of Dhurandhar was released and received an overwhelming response. The film’s casting, historical backdrop, background music, and the involvement of Uri (2019) director Aditya Dhar have all heightened the excitement around it. Interestingly, the film’s depiction of Pakistan was recreated in Thailand a choice that might surprise many given the distinct topographies of the two countries. However, the makers took great care to ensure the location closely resembled Pakistan, and the Thai government extended full cooperation, making Thailand an ideal shooting venue.

Thailand has been a popular filming destination for Bollywood over the past two decades, with notable movies like Wanted (2009), Ready (2011), Student of the Year (2012), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), and Baaghi 2 (2016) shot there. The country’s appeal extends beyond Bollywood, attracting Hollywood productions as well. Recent projects like Jurassic World Rebirth and Netflix’s The White Lotus Season 3 were filmed in Thailand, boosting tourism due to increased global interest in these locations. Thai locales have also been used to recreate Pakistan in other productions, including the Marvel series Ms. Marvel (2022).
Dhurandhar boasts a star-studded cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, and Sara Arjun. Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film is set to release in cinemas on December 5. This collaboration and the choice of Thailand as a filming location highlight the growing trend of creative solutions in filmmaking, blending authenticity with logistical convenience.
