Delhi Police Leave Shimla with Three Accused After High-Voltage Standoff
A tense confrontation between the Delhi Police and the Himachal Pradesh Police ended early Thursday when Delhi officers left Shimla with three accused. The Special Cell had arrested the suspects from Rohru in Shimla district. However, Himachal officers intercepted the team during transit. After hours of arguments and legal exchanges, the Delhi convoy crossed the Shoghi barrier at 5:55 am and began its journey to the national capital.
Interception Sparks Jurisdiction Dispute
Himachal Police stopped the Delhi team at Dharampur in Solan district after receiving inputs about the arrests. Officers detained the vehicles and questioned the procedure. Meanwhile, Delhi Police defended its action and produced seizure memos on the spot. Senior officers from both sides intervened to calm tensions. Later, Shimla Police released the vehicles and allowed the team to proceed. Delhi officials maintained that they followed due legal process throughout the operation.

Court Grants Transit Remand After Midnight Hearing
The accused — Saurabh Singh, Arbaaz Khan and Siddharth Avdhoot — appeared before ACJM-II Ekansh Kapil around 1:00 am. Delhi Police sought transit remand to take them to Delhi. Defence counsel Sandeep Dutta opposed the plea and alleged procedural lapses. However, the court heard both sides and granted transit remand. As a result, Delhi Police secured legal clearance to move the accused out of Himachal Pradesh.
Investigation Moves to Delhi
Following the court’s order, Delhi Police immediately prepared to depart. Officers carried seized material, including a DVR and a Thar vehicle linked to the case. They will now produce the accused before a magistrate in Delhi. The episode has raised concerns over inter-state coordination. Nevertheless, authorities expect the investigation to continue without further disruption.
