Music composer Amaal Mallik recently made headlines when he accused his uncle Anu Malik of sabotaging his father Daboo Malik’s career, claiming Anu would often take away projects by offering to work for free or for less money. Amaal also said that other composers like Sajid-Wajid had a role in sidelining his father and that Daboo was too innocent at the time to fight back. Now, Daboo Malik has reacted to his son’s comments in an interview with Moneycontrol, saying the remarks were unnecessary and came from a personal place.

Daboo explained that sometimes, the struggles shared over family dinners stick in children’s minds, and years later, they form strong opinions without knowing the full picture. He said Amaal’s perspective wasn’t entirely accurate and that it wasn’t needed to publicly call out Anu Malik. Daboo acknowledged the industry is competitive and everyone looks out for themselves—no one is expected to hold your hand or make you a star. While he agreed that there were tough times, he defended Anu’s hard work and said he holds no grudges. “Everyone has their own journey,” he said, adding that he is a happy father watching his children succeed.
