An astrologer is facing intense backlash for allegedly predicting the Air India crash that occurred on June 12 near Ahmedabad. The tragic accident happened when an Air India plane crashed into the B J Medical College building in Meghaninagar, just moments after takeoff. The devastating incident claimed the lives of over 250 passengers and crew, plunging the nation into deep grief.

Shortly after the incident, an X (formerly Twitter) user named Sharmistha, who identifies as an astrology practitioner, claimed the tragedy aligned with her earlier predictions. In a post dated June 12, she wrote, “It is very unfortunate that we lost so many lives in the Air India crash in Ahmedabad.” She continued, “Jupiter is yet to enter Ardra, and India’s Mars Mahadasha is yet to begin—yet so much has already started.

Her remarks drew widespread condemnation online, with many accusing her of being insensitive and using a national tragedy to promote astrology. Social media users criticized the post as opportunistic and disrespectful to the victims and their families. The controversy has reignited debate around ethical boundaries in public commentary, especially during times of crisis.
