Case Against Rahul Gandhi Over ‘Fighting Indian State’ Comment Set for July 18 Hearing.

A local court has scheduled July 18 to hear a case filed against Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over his controversial remark about “fighting the Indian state itself.” The remark, made during the inauguration of the Congress party’s new headquarters in Delhi on January 15, alleged that the BJP and RSS had taken control of every institution in the country. Gandhi stated, “We are now fighting the BJP, the RSS, and the Indian State itself.”

The complaint was filed by Simran Gupta, a member of the Hindu Shakti Dal, who claimed that Gandhi’s comment was disrespectful to the citizens and the democratic fabric of the nation. “Rahul Gandhi’s statement deeply hurt the sentiments of people across the country,” Gupta said. He added that prior appeals were made to the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police in Sambhal, but no action was taken, prompting him to file the case on January 23.

The court had earlier summoned Gandhi to respond on April 4, but the deadline was extended to May 7. As no response was submitted by then, the hearing has now been rescheduled for July 18.
