A South Korean taxi driver has sparked widespread outrage after a Thai tourist shared a video of him making sexually inappropriate remarks during her ride to Seoul Station, reports the South China Morning Post (SCMP). The tourist, who remains anonymous, posted the clip on June 19, showing the driver using a translation app to communicate. During the ride, he asked intrusive questions about her relationship status and offered to help her find a job cleaning rooms. When she mentioned she was heading to Busan, the driver offered to drive her there and shockingly suggested, “If you do not have money for the fare, you can pay with your body.”
The woman recounted feeling frightened, especially when the driver stopped the car mid-ride to continue the conversation. Although he eventually dropped her off at Seoul Station, he gave her his phone number and asked when she would return. The tourist warned others about taking taxis in South Korea and filed a complaint against the driver through the same ride-hailing app. Her video has since gone viral, amassing over 660,000 likes and hundreds of comments.
The incident has drawn condemnation from people in both Thailand and South Korea. Many expressed sympathy for the tourist and urged her to report the driver to the police. Commenters emphasized that such behaviour constitutes sexual harassment and warned that if left unpunished, the driver could victimize others in the future
