Bomb Threat Found on Tissue Forces Delhi–Bagdogra IndiGo Flight to Make Emergency Landing in Lucknow.

Lucknow, Jan 18, 2026: An IndiGo Airlines flight from Delhi to Bagdogra made an emergency landing at Lucknow airport on Sunday after officials detected a bomb threat onboard. The aircraft carried 230 passengers, including 222 adults and eight infants, along with two pilots and five crew members. The flight landed safely, and authorities reported no injuries. Airport officials activated emergency protocols immediately to ensure passenger safety.

Handwritten Threat Note Triggers Security Alert

Police officials said crew members discovered a handwritten message on a tissue paper inside the aircraft’s toilet. The note claimed that a bomb was onboard. As a result, the flight crew informed air traffic control at around 8:46 am. ATC then diverted the aircraft to Lucknow. The plane touched down safely at 9:17 am, officials confirmed. Police officers quickly took charge of the situation after landing.

Passengers Evacuated, Aircraft Secured

Security teams moved the aircraft to an isolation bay soon after arrival. Meanwhile, ground staff evacuated all passengers in a calm and orderly manner. Bomb disposal squads, CISF personnel and airport security teams surrounded the plane. They conducted a detailed search of the cabin, cargo hold and luggage. Additionally, authorities restricted movement around the aircraft to maintain safety during the operation.

Probe Continues as Authorities Remain on Alert

So far, security teams have not found any explosive material. However, investigators continue to verify the source of the threat. Police officers are reviewing CCTV footage and questioning relevant individuals. Meanwhile, IndiGo officials said they are cooperating fully with security agencies.
