After a string of underwhelming releases, Akshay Kumar seems to be back on track with Housefull 5, directed by Tarun Mansukhani. The ensemble whodunit comedy, featuring over 20 actors, earned ₹11.7 crore on Tuesday, a slight dip from Monday’s ₹13.15 crore. Yet, the film’s consistent double-digit earnings post-opening weekend signal strong audience hold and helped it pass the crucial Monday test. Over the weekend, it grossed ₹24.35 crore (Friday), ₹32.38 crore (Saturday), and ₹35.10 crore (Sunday), bringing the domestic total to ₹116.6 crore by Day 5.

Housefull 5 has already outperformed Akshay Kumar’s 2018 sports drama Gold (₹104.72 crore), as well as previous installments of the franchise like Housefull 2 (₹106 crore) and Housefull 3 (₹109.14 crore). It has also surpassed the collections of Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty (₹112.45 crore) and even Sky Force (₹112.75 crore), which was considered Kumar’s comeback earlier this year. With two versions—‘A’ and ‘B’—playing in cinemas simultaneously (each featuring different endings and killers), the unique format has added curiosity and repeat viewership value.
The film’s solo Hindi release and strong franchise recall have given it a clear runway before the release of Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, scheduled for next week. The upcoming film is a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par and is expected to bring fresh competition. Until then, Housefull 5 is on track to not just enter but solidify its place in the ₹200 crore club, marking another major success in Akshay Kumar’s box office career.
