Ajay Devgn says outsiders often think they’ll become stars instantly.

While promoting Son of Sardaar 2 on Archana Puran Singh’s YouTube channel, Ajay Devgn opened up about his views on newcomers in the film industry, especially those without a film background. Joined by his co-star Mrunal Thakur, Ajay spoke about how he learned the ins and outs of the industry from his father, the late stunt choreographer Veeru Devgan. He credited his father for teaching him technical skills, dedication, and a strong work ethic, saying that everything he knows about the industry came from him.

Archana added that this is why the film industry often prefers people from film families—they grow up around the profession and naturally pick up the discipline and ethics it demands. Ajay agreed and said there’s a lot to learn from such an environment. He also pointed out that many newcomers from outside the industry are often misguided. “I’m not talking about everyone,” he clarified, “but many come in not knowing whether they want to be actors or stars. You can’t become a star overnight. First, you have to be an actor. There’s a misunderstanding about how the industry works. In the end, it all comes down to hard work.”

Son of Sardaar 2, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, is set to hit theatres on August 1.
