Aamir Khan made an exciting announcement on July 29 at a press event in Mumbai, revealing that his latest film Sitaare Zameen Par will soon be available on YouTube via a pay-per-view model. Viewers can rent the movie for ₹100, after which it will remain in their account for 30 days. Once the film is played, it must be finished within 48 hours. When asked why there’s no option to purchase the film permanently, Aamir explained that this is a new experiment and they want to take things one step at a time before expanding options.

He also shared broader plans for his new YouTube platform, Aamir Khan Talkies. Starting August 1, Sitaare Zameen Par will be the first release, with more films like Lagaan, Dangal, Taare Zameen Par, Peepli [LIVE], and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na being added over the coming weeks. Additionally, classics produced by his father Tahir Hussain, including Caravan and Anamika, will also be made available. The channel will include both free content and rental options, with shows like Satyamev Jayate accessible for free.

Looking ahead, Aamir said he hopes to support emerging filmmakers through the platform. If a lesser-known filmmaker has a quality film that hasn’t found a buyer, Aamir Khan Talkies may host it, offering most of the earnings to the creator while taking a small fee. His strategy moving forward will be to first release films in theaters and later bring them to YouTube on a rental basis, expanding the reach while supporting the creative community.
