Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday announced the launch of a FASTag-based Annual Pass, priced at ₹3,000, set to roll out from August 15, 2025. The pass, valid for one year from activation or up to 200 trips whichever comes first is exclusively for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. In a post on X, Gadkari called this a transformative step toward seamless and affordable highway travel across India. The initiative aims to simplify toll payments and reduce the burden on frequent travelers.
The new FASTag Annual Pass will be accessible via the Rajmarg Yatra app and official websites of NHAI and MoRTH, with a dedicated link for activation and renewal going live ahead of the launch. The policy also addresses long-standing complaints about toll plazas located within a 60 km range and aims to ease travel by consolidating toll charges into a single, upfront transaction. This move is expected to drastically reduce wait times, congestion, and disputes at toll booths, offering a smoother experience for millions of highway users.

Designed to modernize and digitize India’s road infrastructure, the pass is part of the government’s broader push to improve efficiency on national highways. With streamlined toll collection, the Annual Pass supports faster commutes, improved fuel efficiency, and better traffic flow. By prioritizing ease of travel and digital integration, this initiative marks a major step forward in India’s journey toward smarter and more commuter-friendly highways.
