India Joins UK-Led Talks on Strait of Hormuz, Stresses Unimpeded Transit
India joined a UK-led virtual meeting on Thursday to discuss reopening the Strait of Hormuz. The talks come as global worries grow over energy and fertiliser supply disruptions. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri represented India in the discussions. More than 30 countries took part in the meeting.

Misri attended the meeting chaired by UK foreign minister Yvette Cooper. Countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Canada, and the UAE also joined. However, the United States did not participate. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed India’s presence. He said the UK invited several nations, including India, for the talks.

India Repeats Stand on Safe Navigation
India again stressed the need for safe and open shipping routes. Jaiswal said India supports maritime security under international law. He added that safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz remains a top priority. Meanwhile, the meeting ended without an official statement on its outcome.
