Iran Rejects US Pressure as Nuclear Talks Resume

Iran on Sunday reaffirmed its firm stance during renewed nuclear negotiations with the United States. At the same time, the country said it will not surrender its uranium enrichment programme. Moreover, it refused to bow to military intimidation. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran has little trust in Washington. In addition, he questioned whether the US is sincere about diplomacy. While speaking at a forum in Tehran, he stressed that Iran’s sovereignty remains non-negotiable.

‘Military Deployment Does Not Scare Us’: Araghchi

Meanwhile, Araghchi dismissed the recent US military build-up in the Middle East. According to him, Iran remains unmoved by Washington’s show of force. For example, referring to the arrival of the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea, he remarked, “Their military deployment in the region does not scare us.” Furthermore, he added that Iran will not change its policies under threat. As a result, he stressed that foreign powers cannot dictate Iran’s decisions.

Uranium Enrichment Declared a Matter of Sovereignty

Notably, the foreign minister ruled out any compromise on uranium enrichment. Instead, he called it a matter of national dignity. In other words, Araghchi said enrichment reflects Iran’s independence. “No one has the right to dictate our behaviour,” he stated. At the same time, Iran is seeking relief from US sanctions. In return, it has offered limited confidence-building measures. However, continued sanctions have raised doubts in Tehran. Similarly, military pressure has weakened trust in talks.

Trump’s ‘Armada’ and Rising Diplomatic Pressure

Meanwhile, the renewed talks in Oman follow months of rising tensions. Previously, these tensions increased after last year’s conflict involving Israel and Iran. Despite this, Donald Trump has reinforced military pressure. For instance, he deployed a powerful naval fleet in the Gulf. Moreover, senior US officials recently visited the carrier group. Trump described it as an “armada.” Meanwhile, Washington imposed fresh sanctions and tariffs. Consequently, these measures have tightened economic pressure on Tehran. At the same time, Iran continues to coordinate with China and Russia. However, it still rejects talks on missiles and regional groups.
