Afghanistan Post 310/4 After Twin Tons in U19 World Cup Semifinal

Zoom Chronicle News | Harare:
Afghanistan produced a dominant batting display to post 310/4 against India in the U19 World Cup semifinal at the Harare Sports Club. Middle-order batters Faisal Shinozada and Uzairullah Niazai led the charge with twin centuries. Together, they controlled the innings through the middle overs and accelerated brilliantly at the death. As a result, Afghanistan set India a massive target in this high-pressure knockout encounter.

Shinozada and Niazai Anchor Massive Total

After losing the toss, Afghanistan captain Mahboob Khan elected to bat first. Although India tried to apply early pressure, the Afghan batters remained composed. Gradually, Shinozada and Niazai built a solid partnership. Moreover, they rotated strike efficiently and punished loose deliveries. In the final overs, they shifted gears and scored freely. Consequently, Afghanistan crossed the 300-run mark and gained a psychological advantage.

India Aim to Protect Strong World Cup Legacy

Meanwhile, India entered the semifinal with a proud record. Since their exit in 2016, they have never fallen before this stage. In fact, the Men in Blue reached the final in each of the last five editions and won titles in 2018 and 2022. Led by Ayush Mhatre, the team will now look to preserve this legacy. Therefore, the upcoming chase will test their temperament, technique, and mental strength under pressure.

Unbeaten India Face Tough Afghan Challenge

India have remained unbeaten in the 2026 tournament so far. They topped their group after defeating the USA, Bangladesh, and New Zealand. Later, wins over Zimbabwe and Pakistan in the Super Six secured their semifinal berth. Afghanistan, on the other hand, recovered strongly after one setback to qualify. Now, with 310 on the board, they have placed India in a demanding position. However, with in-form batters like Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and strong all-round depth, India will aim to mount a fearless chase and book a place in the final.
