Economic Survey 2026: PM Modi Highlights Reform Drive and Resilient Growth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said the Economic Survey 2026 reflects India’s continued reform push and steady progress despite a challenging global environment. Speaking after the survey’s presentation in Parliament by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, the prime minister stressed that India’s economic direction remains focused on stability, resilience and long-term expansion. Moreover, he noted that strong macroeconomic fundamentals and policy continuity have helped India navigate global uncertainties, including inflation pressures and slowing growth in several major economies. According to him, the survey captures how India has balanced growth with fiscal prudence while still investing in key sectors.

Focus on Inclusive Development

Importantly, PM Modi underlined that the Economic Survey places inclusive development at the centre of policymaking. The report, he said, gives special attention to farmers, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), youth employment and social welfare schemes. In addition, it highlights how targeted government programmes have expanded financial inclusion, improved rural access to credit and supported vulnerable groups. As a result, the government aims to ensure that growth benefits reach both urban and rural populations. The survey also points to digital transformation and infrastructure development as major drivers of inclusion and productivity.

Reforms and Growth Momentum

Furthermore, the prime minister said the survey reflects the impact of structural reforms carried out in recent years. Measures in taxation, logistics, manufacturing and the startup ecosystem have, he argued, strengthened India’s growth engine. Consequently, India continues to position itself as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies. The survey also reportedly tracks improvements in ease of doing business, capital expenditure and private investment trends. Together, these factors signal momentum in sectors such as manufacturing, services and green energy.

Outlook in a Tough Global Climate

However, PM Modi acknowledged that the global environment remains uncertain. Even so, he expressed confidence that India can sustain its progress through reforms, innovation and demographic strength. He urged stakeholders to view the survey as both a report card and a roadmap. Ultimately, he said, the findings reinforce India’s vision of becoming a developed, self-reliant economy while maintaining social balance. With policy support and continued reforms, the government expects India to remain a bright spot in the global economy.
