Police Act on Family’s Complaint
National Shooting Coach POCSO case has emerged in Haryana after police booked a national-level shooting coach for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor woman shooter at a hotel in Faridabad last month. The incident reportedly took place on December 16, a day after the athlete competed in a national shooting competition in New Delhi. Haryana Police registered the case at the Women’s Police Station in NIT Faridabad following a detailed complaint filed by the athlete’s family. Investigators confirmed that the athlete was a minor at the time of the alleged offence.
Coach Called Athlete for “Performance Review”
The FIR states that the accused coach asked the athlete to meet him at a Surajkund hotel. He was staying there during the competition period. The coach allegedly said he wanted to analyse her performance. He also offered to discuss shooting techniques. The competition took place at the Dr Karni Singh Shooting Academy in New Delhi. The family alleged that the coach later pressured the athlete to go to his room. He claimed the discussion would be better in private. Police said the accused is among 13 national pistol coaches appointed by the NRAI.

Threats and Assault Alleged
According to the complaint, the coach assaulted the athlete inside the hotel room. The FIR says she tried to resist him. The accused allegedly ignored her resistance. He also threatened to ruin her sporting career. The complaint states that he warned of harm to her family. The athlete left the hotel in shock soon after the incident. She later told her family about what happened. After discussions, the family decided to approach the police.
CCTV Footage Sought as Probe Continues
Faridabad Police have sought CCTV footage from the hotel. Officers want to confirm the timeline of events. Police are also recording witness statements. “We asked the hotel to provide CCTV footage without delay,” said Yashpal Yadav, Faridabad Police PRO. The accused has not been detained so far. Police have also not issued a notice yet. Investigators said they have not informed the sports federation. The case includes charges under Section 6 of the POCSO Act. Police also invoked Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
