The Dharamshala student death case probe has intensified across Himachal Pradesh. Assistant professor Ashok Kumar received anticipatory bail on Saturday. He rejected all allegations and said he is ready to face consequences if the law finds him guilty. The 19-year-old student died on December 26 during treatment in Ludhiana. Her father filed a complaint saying she faced ragging by three senior students and harassment by the professor. The incident triggered protests in Dharamshala and renewed questions on campus safety.
Government Action in Student Death Case Probe
The Himachal Pradesh government suspended the professor as the Dharamshala student death case probe moved forward. Kumar told reporters he had no link to the incident and said the student shifted to another teacher’s class this semester. He added that he had taught for 26 years without complaints. A video recorded by the student before her death went viral. In the clip, she accused the professor of mental harassment and inappropriate behaviour.

Several committees are now examining the Dharamshala student death case probe. The state education department formed a four-member inquiry panel. It must submit a report within three days. Education minister Rohit Thakur said strict action would follow. The University Grants Commission also created a five-member fact-finding panel. It will examine the circumstances leading to the student’s death and any lapses by college officials.
College Response During Ongoing Probe
The college clarified the victim’s academic status during the Dharamshala student death case probe. Principal Rakesh Pathania said she passed her first year but failed three subjects. The college asked her to repeat the year. She attended some classes in the new session but did not complete re-admission. The college learned about the incident only when police arrived on December 22. Public pressure continues to grow as people demand justice and accountability.
