Canada Issues Warrant for Suspect in Indo-Canadian Woman Murder Case.

Toronto: Canadian law enforcement has launched a Canada-wide search for 32-year-old Abdul Ghafoori, who faces a first-degree murder charge for the killing of 30-year-old Indo-Canadian woman, Himanshi Khurana. First-degree murder in Canada can lead to a life sentence without parole if prosecutors prove premeditation and intent. Police believe the case stems from intimate partner violence, and it adds to growing concerns about rising violent incidents in the city.

Police began their inquiry late Friday after receiving a missing-person call at 10:41 p.m. Officers quickly started a search. By 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, they found Khurana’s body inside a residence. The discovery confirmed their fears, and investigators immediately opened a homicide probe. Since the victim and the suspect knew each other, detectives soon focused on Ghafoori. Local outlet CP24 also reported that the two shared an intimate relationship, which further strengthened the direction of the inquiry.

Toronto Police then released Ghafoori’s image and asked the public for help. “We have released an image of the suspect, and that is out there, and we’re appealing to the public, if anybody would happen to know where this man is to please call police,” a spokesperson said. With this appeal, the force hopes to speed up the search. Meanwhile, officers continue to gather evidence as this case now stands as Toronto’s 40th murder of 2025, a number that highlights a troubling trend.

Police later confirmed the victim’s identity by matching her image with a social media profile under the same name. On that profile, Khurana described herself as a Toronto-based digital creator. Her death has shocked many in the local community. As the manhunt expands, investigators urge anyone with information to step forward. Through public cooperation, they hope to bring Ghafoori into custody and provide clarity and justice for Khurana’s family.
