LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky says degrees will matter less in the future workplace.

LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky believes that college degrees will become less important in the coming years, especially as artificial intelligence reshapes the workplace. He explained that companies are already shifting their priorities away from traditional qualifications and are instead looking for people who can adapt quickly, learn new skills, and work with emerging technologies.

Speaking at a fireside chat in LinkedIn’s San Francisco office, Roslansky said the old idea of success being tied to having a top degree from a prestigious university is fading. In his view, what will matter most is whether a person is flexible, forward-thinking, and open to embracing change. Skills such as problem-solving, curiosity, and technological fluency will carry more weight than credentials on paper.

Roslansky described this change as one of the most exciting shifts in the world of work. He emphasized that the future belongs to people who are willing to keep learning and evolving, rather than those who rely only on their academic background.

He added that this new outlook “opens up the playing field” for a much larger group of people, giving opportunities to anyone ready to grow, regardless of their degree or college background.
