Spanish police are investigating a 17-year-old student after several female classmates came forward with complaints about AI-generated nude images being circulated online. The probe began when 16 young women from the same educational institute reported that fake photos and videos showing them naked had appeared on social media, created using artificial intelligence. The first complaint was made in December by a girl who discovered an AI-generated video and photos of her, completely nude, posted on a social media account falsely using her name.

As more students spoke up, police started suspecting that the images were created by someone within the school. They tracked the IP addresses linked to the fake accounts and traced them back to the home of the 17-year-old now under investigation. He is suspected of using AI technology to produce and sell these deepfake images, and he faces charges related to the corruption of minors.
This case is not isolated; Spanish authorities have previously found instances of AI-generated pornographic images involving minors. In response, the Spanish government announced plans in March to introduce a law making it a crime to create and share non-consensual AI-generated sexual images. This proposed legislation, which would be a first in Europe, is still awaiting approval by parliament.
