A police complaint has been filed against cricketer Virat Kohli in connection with the tragic stampede outside Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, which left 11 people dead and 56 injured. The incident occurred on June 3 when a massive crowd gathered to welcome Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) after their historic IPL victory — the team’s first in 18 years.

According to an ANI report, social activist HM Venkatesh submitted the complaint at Cubbon Park police station, alleging that Kohli’s public promotion of the IPL celebrations led to the chaotic crowd surge. The authorities have confirmed that the complaint will be considered under an already registered case and examined during the ongoing investigation.
The stampede took place as thousands of fans swarmed the stadium to get a glimpse of their favorite players, especially RCB captain Virat Kohli. What was meant to be a celebratory event turned into a deadly incident, sparking public outcry and renewed scrutiny of crowd control measures at major sporting events.
