Nearly 100 schools across India were hit by bomb threats this week, causing widespread panic among students, parents, and school authorities. On Friday alone, around 50 schools in Delhi received alarming emails claiming explosives were planted on campus. Well-known institutions like St. Xavier’s in Civil Lines, Richmond Global School in Paschim Vihar, and The Sovereign School in Rohini were among those targeted. This marks the fourth consecutive day that schools in the national capital have received such threats.

In a parallel incident, about 40 private schools in Bengaluru, especially in areas like Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Kengeri, also received similar emails with chilling subject lines like “Bombs inside the school.” The threatening messages, sent from an anonymous email address, included graphic descriptions and claimed TNT had been hidden in school premises. Following these alerts, police and bomb disposal teams were deployed, and large-scale search operations were launched across affected schools.
So far, no explosives have been found, and officials believe the threats are hoaxes. However, investigations are ongoing. Most of the emails were traced to encrypted networks and VPNs, making it extremely difficult to identify the source. A Delhi Police official compared the chase to “tracking a shadow in a room full of mirrors.”
