Actor R. Madhavan recently shared his perspective on the ongoing Hindi-Marathi language debate, emphasizing that he has never faced any language-related difficulties in India. Drawing from his personal experiences of living across different states and cultures, Madhavan explained that language has never been a barrier in his life or career. Growing up in Jamshedpur and having studied Marathi in Kolhapur, he highlighted his multilingual background, stating that he has always been comfortable communicating in Tamil, Hindi, and Marathi.

The controversy gained momentum when the Maharashtra government mandated Hindi as a third language in state-run primary schools, alongside Marathi and English, following the national three-language policy. Tensions escalated after social media circulated videos of MNS workers allegedly targeting non-Marathi speakers, sparking widespread discussions on linguistic and regional identity.

Several celebrities have weighed in on the issue, advocating for respect and unity among India’s diverse languages. Singer Udit Narayan, for instance, emphasized the significance of honoring regional languages like Marathi while also recognizing the equal importance of all Indian languages. He noted that while Maharashtra is his professional base, every language in the country deserves appreciation and respect.
