Chandigarh Police DSP Lakshay Pandey has filed a complaint alleging that his identity has been misused through multiple fake social media accounts. According to his statement, fraudsters have impersonated him using his name, photographs, and even forged identification documents, including fake Aadhaar and police ID cards. These impersonators have gone to the extent of obtaining blue tick verification on some accounts, possibly through illegitimate or paid methods.

The fake profiles have been used to solicit money from the public under false pretenses—such as claiming family medical emergencies or promising gifts from abroad. Several individuals, including students, were reportedly deceived into transferring money, believing the requests were genuine. In addition to financial fraud, these fake accounts have also sent obscene and inappropriate messages to women, further tarnishing the officer’s image and professional reputation.
The Cyber Crime Cell of Chandigarh Police has registered a case and initiated an investigation based on DSP Pandey’s complaint. He submitted a detailed list of the fraudulent accounts and suspected profiles involved. Emphasizing the seriousness of the issue, he noted that these actions are not only criminal but have deeply impacted both his integrity and the trust of the public.
